I’m Suzanne, an Irish travel writer, former journalist and online marketer, and the creative force behind Seeking Suzanne, a life & travel blog that seeks to encourage fearless female exploration and adventure (whether in day-to-day life or on a travel adventure).
And that’s the end of the sales pitch. Because I’m also just a girl, sitting in front of a screen, sharing her honest experiences of travel.
(I also, evidently, really enjoy pop culture references).
A bit about me.
At 25, I had landed a dream marketing job with a successful Irish technology company (the type of company that loves to put everything on post-its and have beer & pizza Fridays). Basically, I had it made.
All I needed to fully meet the criteria of a socially acceptable female adult was to find a life partner, put down the mortgage on a house and continue to climb the career ladder to ‘success.’
But these things never felt like logical next steps to me. Maybe in the future, but not right now. So instead I saved up, quit my job and booked a one-way flight to Brazil.
And here we are.
“the traveling writer is someone seeking anonymity… a sort of nonexistence, the quest for which can lead, paradoxically, to the discovery of the self set free from the bafflement of context.” – Lynn Freed, The Romance of Elsewhere
